Buddy Rich and One Handed Drum Roll!!



I have got to tell you a story my teacher once told me about Buddy Rich and his One Handed Drum Roll.

So my teach, who is the resident drum hero of Phoenix AZ was telling me about the time he had sat next to Buddy and asked him to show him his one handed roll. You may have heard the stories of how he would be in the middle of a solo, playing a long roll, and then, out of nowhere a hand with a towel wipes his forehead. Its his own hand and he keep the roll as smooth as butter!!

Well my teacher sat next to him and asked to see it. He told me "he proceeded to play a back and forth motion in traditional grip and it was as smooth as any roll I ever heard". With One Hand!!! As smooth as some of the other big boys with 2 hands!!!!
